Dear Huron Families, The end of the school year is a wonderful time to celebrate all that students have accomplished and the dedication that they have demonstrated. Our celebrations will look different this year, but we hope that our creative ideas will make the end of the year special.

Drive Thru Clap Out / Car Parade – Tuesday, May 26th - (3:00 PM- 4:30 PM)

One special event will be a “Drive Thru Clap Out” for our fifth-grade students, eighth grade students and seniors. This would be a modified version of a “clap out” to recognize students that are changing levels and have completed a milestone. Students and families of these students will be invited to drive through the “parade routes” of the parking lots of the schools they attended for elementary, middle and/or high school. Staff members will be at each school to cheer for and congratulate the students. Participants are welcome to decorate their cars, wear their caps and gowns (for seniors) or wear a school t-shirt. Parade participants must stay in their vehicles to maintain a safe environment and keep the car traffic flowing so we do not cause a backup on our local roads. We want to come together to celebrate the students and see one another even if it is from a distance. Staff members will spread out along the sidewalks near each building and cheer on the cars as they make their way through the parking lot. We ask that families do not exit their cars so that we can honor the stay at home order. This event is planned for Tuesday, May 26th from approximately 3:00-4:30 PM.

Parade Route

Enter the parking lot from Terra Bella and turn right. Follow the loop around. Staff will be stationed along the main sidewalk along the front of the building. Do not enter the side lot. Follow the one way at the end of the main drag turn left to exit the parking lot. Please be patient as we will do our best to keep the traffic flowing through the lot. Virtual 5th Grade Completion Ceremony – Friday, June 12th Due to the school closure, we have planned for an event that honors the safety of our students, staff and community while still celebrating the accomplishment of completing fifth grade. Our staff will record a virtual fifth grade completion ceremony to celebrate our fifth graders and the tradition of our school. The virtual ceremony will feature staff speeches and other memorable things for families to enjoy. Every 5th grader will be personally recognized during the ceremony. This virtual ceremony will be shared electronically on Friday, June 12th. It is our goal to honor our fifth graders and leave them with a keepsake that can be shared with family and friends for years to come.

5th Grade Completion Materials and Other Important Items - Date Coming Soon

We want to make sure that students receive their completion certificates, academic awards, club participation certificates, yearbooks, report cards and other school documents. In June, we will schedule a date for families to pick up these items from the school. On this same date, students can pick up any other items that they left at school prior to the closure.

This day will also serve as a time for students to return items that belong to the school such as textbooks and library books. Staff will organize and coordinate the pick-up and drop-off of items so that families can maintain social distance and stay safe.

Memorial Day and Teacher Professional Developmen

Students will not be assigned work on Monday, May 25th and Tuesday, May 26th. Monday is the Memorial Day holiday and we wish you and your family have time to enjoy the weather and make the most of time together. Additionally, May 26th is a scheduled teacher professional development day and staff will not be required to upload new learning and assignments to Schoology. On Wednesday, May 27th, we will resume learning as previously delivered.

We miss our students and cannot wait to see their smiling faces. We look forward to your participation in these planned events and hope that you and your family are safe and well.

Take Care!
