For Parents

Parents play a critical role in the life of a student athlete and the Life of an Athlete (LoA) program. They need to understand and live the LoA Code of Conduct and work to support the goals of the program with their children. The importance of parent involvement cannot be underestimated.

Support your Athlete

Support for your son/daughter can be shown in numerous ways, including:

  • Attend games/events
  • Be positive when cheering for your athlete’s team
  • Avoid putting pressure on your athlete to score or to be a starter
  • Be respectful of coaches, players, officials, other parents, and fans
  • Volunteer to help at games, events, fundraisers
  • Provide positive feedback after each game regardless of the outcome
  • Talk to your athlete about the negative consequences of using alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs and abusing prescription drugs
