When can I come to the Media Center?

7:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. (regular school hours) with a pass or with your class or at lunchtime if you have a pass from the lunchroom. Please make sure Mrs.Tomlin is in the media center!  No students can come to the media center if I am not here!

How do I check out a book?

You may check out two books for two weeks. When you check out a book, you will use your student ID card.  NEVER check out a book for another student.  If you check out a book for someone else and they lose that book, you are responsible for payment.

Books are checked out for two weeks, but they may be renewed. Return books on the way to your first hour class at the Book Return slot. It is considerate to return books when you finish with them before the due date so that others may use them.

What happens when I have an overdue book?

Computerized overdue notices are delivered to your home room teacher. You are expected to return overdue books as soon as possible after receiving notification. Because there are no overdue fines, you may not check out any other materials until you have cleared your name. There are fines, however, for damaged and lost materials.

How do I locate materials?

The OPAC or Online Public Access Catalog is the best locator of materials. You can access the Algonquin collection through the Internet, from school or from home. You can search by author, title or subject to locate a book. Each book has a call number located on the screen. These call numbers match the call numbers on the spines of library books arranged on the media center shelves in numerical (number) and alphabetical order.
